If malt and hops are the two poles of brewing, this beer is the gently spinning sweet spot between them. First, you’ll notice the spicy aromas of Vanguard and Liberty hops. Then - wipe the foam off the tip of your nose - dive into the toasty flavor of Vienna malt. Dynamo starts strong and finishes crisp and smooth. The balanced flavors, aromas, and even the coppery-red tones of this beer go great with everything. Fear no pairing. The best time to enjoy Dynamo is when you’re thirsty.

As somebody who prefers lagers, to have this brewery dedicate itself to Germanic styles, including lagers, elevates it above other Chicago craft breweries. I enjoy the thick, slighty chewy malt notes in here. Hops are present, but they only support, not dominate. When I go out, I try to find a venue that has this beer, especially on tap. I should have this beer more often.

Appearance: Copper, light brown burnt orange color. Finger worth on head on the pour which the active carbonation continued to regenerate. Active carbonation is above average for the style.

Smell: Vienna malts on the front with accents of caramel and molasses. A touch of grassy hops show up on the body. Some slightly nutty malts with doughy buttery yeast round this one out.

Taste: Amber malts shine on the front. A touch of caramel sweetness really pulls the drinker in. Toasted nuts, warming malts, and airy grains compose the body. A touch of hops and continuing semi sweet caramel and molasses really pull this one through.

Mouthfeel: Pleasant cleanliness on the palate with lingering malt sweetness to keep you pulling on it. Carbonation is right on.

Overall: Metropolitan is certainly a premier brewery if you are looking for lagers. Impressive flavors produced with that cleanliness I always look for in a lager. Great stuff.
