Appearance: Clean clear body with a straw yellow color. Half a finger of head on the pour dissipated to a thin layer across the top while drinking. Active carbonation seems low for the style. A touch of sticky lacing left behind.
Smell: Sweet biscuits really shine on the front. A touch of cloves and medium bodied fruits show up on the body. Malts come off well on the body which are grain forward with some yeast evening out on the back end. Bright buttery notes ride this one out.
Taste: Malts blast onto the front, coming off a touch dry wheat. Straw and grassy front transitions into a body that really smoothes out with accents of cloves and buttery yeast. The finish is easy with some fruity hop notes popping through.
Mouthfeel: Great transitions from a dry front to a creamy, semi sweet finish. Lower carbonation really allows the layers of this brew to shine.
Overall: Another excellent offering from Metropolitan. There simply aren't enough good Kolsch beers out there so I would seek this one out if you are a fan.

APPEARANCE: A giant, foamy head immediately rises up, filling about half the pint glass I pour this beer into. In fact, I can't pour the remaining six ounces of this beer until the head settles. The bubbles underneath are going nuclear; they're crazy - erupting from the bottom of the glass through the pale, straw, straight yellow colored beer. This beer is exploding with life.
SMELL: A huge biscuit aroma kicks things off, a little graham cracker provides some backbone and a hint of banana rounds it out.
TASTE: A subtle banana leads each sip with a big, biscuit-like background. Some light, citrusy hops come through the middle and then the end of each sip before a dry, wheat finish.
MOUTHFEEL: This is a sweeter beer than expected, but the light body makes it supremely drinkable. A slight dryness comes through at the end of each sip, but this is a light, sweet, easy-drinker.
OVERALL: A little sweeter than I would have preferred from Metropolitan, but still very nice. I always looks forward to a couple of these when I come back home to Chicago.
