Drank a couple too tree of these at the Off Color event at Black Rock.
Served in a footed tulip glass, a dark brown fading into black with plenty of wispy tan lacing in the glass. Visible carb trails around the edges.
Smoky aroma, a light sweetness underneath, bready and full figured.
Flavors were similar, robust smoked malts with a light sweetness, a mild yeast character, and dry finish. Very smooth, light carbonation and supple malts carry this one well. Spotlight on the gently smoked malts here, successful and a popular brew, it was the first to disappear on that foggy night.
Overall it was enjoyable, look forward to future batches.

On-tap at the Black Rock & Kitchen. Served in a variety of glasses over the evening.
A - Off-white foam settles to a thick cap, leaving behind a few splotches of lace. Dark mahogany body with a faint haze to it, but mostly translucent.
S - Smoke, toasted grains, bread, light caramel and cocoa, maple sweetness, some nuttiness. Excellent balance of smoke and sweetness here.
T - Taste is quite similar, with smoke, bread, maple-glazed ham, light sugary notes, and slightly charred toast.
M - Medium body, chewy, and lightly toasty. Pleasant carbonation, clean finish, and quite easy to drink. No idea on the ABV, but I'd be shocked if it was over 6%.
D - My favorite of John's collaborations. I hope this gets into their regular rotation as it's pretty unique compared to other available options and easy to drink in large quantities. I assume the rest of the batch brewed at Metropolitan will trickle out into the market, so keep give this a shot if it shows up at your local watering hole.
