The Roanoke is Ancient by west coast standards. It's not something you would stumble upon since it's out of the Mercer Island business area and down in what is mostly residential homes. It actually looks a bit like a converted home. So it has a definite neighborhood feel and you can tell that some of the poeple have been coming here for decades.
They were mostly a BMC place with a few big boy Micros for many years but recently started focusing a little more on their tap selection. Last few times I've been in, there are some surprises on the taps. (I was stunned to see Tricerahops.)
Atmosphere is very cool. There's a ton of really rare beer signage and memorabilia.
They serve burgers and sandwiches which are pretty good and they have some bigger plates and a daily special.
Finding a good tap selection on Mercer Island is tough and this is definitely your best bet.
Update Dec. 2009: I get here maybe every other month and meet people for food/beers. I just recently noticed that they have an all taps $4.50 policy. So 2 pints of Double Bastard, $9. Chopsticks! What a Bargain!!!
