750mL bottle into a tulip. No date on the bottle.
A: Body is yellow, with a very slight haze, white foamy head that recedes in a short bit to a thin layer on the surface of the beer with some light lacing on the glass.
S: Belgian yeast abounds- spiciness, candi sugar, apple and pear fruitiness, with bubblegum.
T: Spicy notes to start with slight fruitiness. There is a very funky earthy note throughout, as the bottle warmed it became less harsh and settled into a nice undertone. Finishes with hints of citrus, tree fruits, and yeasty spice. Hints of grasses, perhaps the hops.
M: Medium body with lots of carbonation, slightly dry on the finish and mildly bitter. Crisp and clean.
O: A good beer, overall. Well balanced, tasty and refreshing. Delicate, but This is the first Bière de Garde style I have tried and it is not a disappointment, like a Belgian blonde, but funkier. Truly enjoyable to drink. I poured it too cold, at 44-46 degrees, should have poured at 52-54 for better flavor balance. The French are not particularly known for their beers, but this is worth marking on a map and writing home (if I was in France!).

Med thin body, very crisp and clean, slightly biting carbonation. Nice tart fruitiness upfront with earthy notes, a bit of funk, and a hint of grassy hops.
Finishes with a lingering fruity note, hints of green apple, and a touch of citrus.
Overall; very delicate and crisp, interesting notes.

Beer bottle (75cl.), tasted in 2007.
Story : After a development of the beer in ISA (Higher Institute of Agriculture). Then the first high-volume brew is made in the brewery Saint Germain.
The beer is now produced in the new premises of the brewery "du pays flamand".
Appearance : pale yellow golden color, with a thin white head.
Smell : grain with some fruity aromas.
Taste and mouthfeel : little malty with grain flavours.
Drinkability : an average beer in the French style "bière de garde".
