Old style amber 9.3 ounce bottle, AKA 275 ml Why the weird size?

White colored beer with a faint yellow tinge, no head.

Strong ginger aroma with a little ginseng scent that to me smells a lot like dirt. Herbal ginger scents this is much less aromatic than soda type Ginger Ale but more complex too.

Taste is mildly sweet and quite spicy on the tongue. Ginger and a little ginseng there is a faint lemon flavor here too. Ginger burn starts immediately and after a few sips this becomes quite hot in the mouth, much more intense than the soda version of the drink.

Mouthfeel is good.

Quite drinkable, this is one of those living fossil type of beers, not really made much anymore. Old style Ginger Ale when it was actually fermented and not CO2 pumped sugar water.

Poured this into a pint glass more than a year ago and am doing this from memory so bear with me.

Appearance: Pours a fizzy straw with a short white head that is gone fast.

Aroma: Smells of ginger candy and spice.

Taste: This ginger beer is a little bit less punchy than I'd prefer. I like a big jolt of ginger up front in my ginger beer and it's not really there.

Mouthfeel: Fairly watery.

Overall: Pretty average ginger beer that could use more zing.

275 ml screwcap bottle, bought in Norway. ABV is "not more than 0.5%". Pours fizzy, no head. Extremely pale greyish colour, nearly like water. Aroma of root ginger and lemon soda. Flavour of lemon soda with a distinct ginger burn throughout. Nice enough to drink, but is it a BEER? Yes, it contains fermented ginger root extract, but apparently no malts at all. Other ingredients are carbonated water, sugar and glucose syrup. It also contains natural flavourings of ginger, paprika, lemon, veronica, juniper berries, yarrow - and preservatives.

A: Pours a clear very pale straw yellow (lighter than a normal ginger ale) with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation slowly rising from the bottom of the glass, moderate amounts of light colored particulates in suspension, and a hint of light champagne highlight. The beer has an eighth of a finger tall fizzy white head that almost immediately reduces to the thinest of rings at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of freshly grated ginger with a light amount of sweetness in the background.

T: Upfront there is a light amount of sweetness like from a grainy malt with some sugar added to it That is followed by moderate flavors of fresh ginger with a light amount of spiciness and just a hint of pepper in the background. Minimal amounts of bitterness.

M: Light bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Slightly prickly.

O: Easy to drink and sort of a nostalgic beer as you don't come across a lot of the fresh ginger flavor in these any longer - mostly artificial flavor and way too much sugar. Would go really well with spicy food as it has just enough sweetness to carry it. Refreshing.

A little unfair since I have a cold at the moment but I'll do my best.

Looks: beautiful old school bottle. The It pours with a lot of fizz looking fresh but paler than usual. More of a lemonady look.
Smell: sweet caramel and tons of ginger
Taste: this may be the cold but I am getting no foretaste, whatsoever. Lots of ginger, warmth and caramel in the aftertaste thou.
Feel: A little thin, kindof watery not really quenching thou since the sweetness gives it a lingering stuffyness.
Overall: I'm not to at home with the gingerbeers, but I must say I quite enjoyed it. Far from bad, but not close to the best I've had.

This is not technically a beer brewed with hops or malt, but more of an authentic ginger ale, only .5% abv. Yet for the type of drink it is, the flavor is exceptional.

Cloudy and carbonated yellow white appearance, accented by the high amount of actual unfiltered ginger particulates ranked this higher in my estimation.

The smell likewise was pungent, of authentic ginger and herbal spicing; delicious aroma.

The taste was exceptional and authentic. A balance of ginger and peppery herbal mixture much 'thicker' than a mere ginger ale; a "ginger-ade" rather than lemonade. Sweet and pungent with a memorable bite and tanginess.

As compared to mere ginger soda, this beverage has much more body and substance, and pleases the tongue authentically, not just chemically.

Highly drinkable; I've sought it at many locations and been disappointed to find only the soda, not the true-brewed version. Great stuff especially if you like root beers and draft cider!
