Pours into a stemmed glass a clear medium to full golden with a tightly formed near one finger white head that settles pretty slowly leaving two broken rings of lace behind.Aromas are yeasty with some light tropical fruitiness, not much chile presence to be found.Again yeasty and fruity on the palate with some caramel dough thrown in,the chile is light in the finish...very light.Hmm not bad but pretty unassuming, the alcohol is well hidden but so are the chiles.

22 oz bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a big meringue like white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is very subdued - some sweet malt and mild green pepper. Some perfumey notes come out as it warms.

The flavor is some sweet woody notes and some mild chile spice with a bitter spice finish. The mouthfeel is light bodied and very watery.

Overall, an OK mild chile beer. A bit watery.

Bottle shared at Proof. Pale gold with a touch of orange. Slight white head with a thick collar. Head comes back to life with each touch of the glass. Aroma is lack luster. Only get a bit of pale malt and a little grassiness. Taste is also grassy, some sweetness from pale malt and a very slight hop spice coupled with the chile. Medium/light body with same low-med carbonation. The chiles have really faded out already, and I have a bottle at home I might let sit for a few years.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Tulip.

Appearance: Cloudy but bright orange with white head.

Smell: Mostly just smells like overripe, slightly musty, fruit. Not much else.

Taste: Tastes exactly like what it is - a mix of Belgian yeast (banana and spice), citrusy hops, hot peppers, and wood aging. But it is all a little bland and muddled. Lingering aftertaste of peppers (good) and rotting fruit (bad).

Feel: Moderate carbonation with a thin body. I don't know why, but the mouthfeel is almost nonexistent other than the light pepper kick.

Overall: Pleasant and drinkable but a disappointment, especially considering the collaboration involved.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a New Belgium Globe glass. Bottle says best by November 2014.

Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. Solid two fingers of white head with decent retention. Leaves a lot of creamy lacing around the glass.

Smell: A sweet, tart, and juicy aroma with good hints of spice, fruit, and yeast. Belgian yeast with some hints of funk. Spicy hints of chili peppers. Also some woody hints. Big scent of fruits with citrus hop hints of orange, mango, tangerine, peach, apricot, lemon, and grapefruit. Some earthy and grassy hop hints as well. Pale malt with hints of grains and cracker. A nicely sweet but balanced aroma.

Taste: Like the aroma hints at, a sweet, juicy, and tart Belgian tinged taste with notes of fruit, spices, and yeast. Belgian yeast with some notes of funk and slight clove. Mix of chili and pepper spicing. Notes of wood linger. Big taste of citrus fruits with notes of mango, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, peach, apricot, and lemon zest. Also some earthy hop notes of grass. Pale malt with some notes of grains and cracker. A pretty decent taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, juicy, spicy, and slightly sticky. Some heat is felt from the peppers but the alcohol is covered well.

Overall: A pretty decent and interesting brew. Solid juicy citrus flavor and the pepper adds a nice kick without becoming overwhelming.

A: Traffic light amber.

S: That familiar New Belgium yeast spiciness with a dose of syrup sweetness.

T: A confusion of hops, residual sugars, and heatless chilies.

M: The hops pull the moisture out of the mouth, the sugars coat the tongue, and the small amount of capsaicin finds its way to the back of the throat.

O: What a disappointment. The Lips of Faith series is worth following despite there perhaps being more hits than misses. The familiar base is there but there's nothing interesting to wrap it in.
