A: This poured a hazy gold with a little white head.
S: It smelled like sweet honey and earthy barley, with some spicy chili.
T: It tasted like it smelled, with mostly sweet honey and earthy barley and a little spicy chili. It had a mild earthy aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Decent body.
D: This was not a very spicy beer, which made it easier to drink, but also boring. The scent and taste and body didn't have much character otherwise, which compounded the problem. Not difficult to drink, but too simplistic. I expected more out of this brew.

Light amber color. Nice see through. Rich, creamy head with exceptional stick and smooth foamy lacing.

Aroma is clean with hints of malt and spices.

Biscuity malt flavor with hints of butter and diacetyl. Herbal leafy hop, descent balance. Touch of spices without a hint of heat. Yeast is not prominent as expected.

Sturdy medium bodied. Smooth, creamy texture. Slight warmth from the alcohol. Well carbonated.

Descent brew overall just weak for a pepper beer. Lacks the spice level and heat I was hoping for. Just a little dull in my opinion.

another sweet not so good lips of faith beer, these are tiring me out. chili beer right? well, im making chili, so i thought this might help give it some flavor and spice it up. for once, when i want some heat in a beer, it just isnt there. instead is a sweetness, a common yeast profile, and that same lips of faith series weirdness that just misses being appealing. golden in color, maybe brass is better, with a nice head and a clear look to it. nose is sweet, almost lactose sugar unfermented sweetness, without a hint of chili pepper. the flavor shows just a little heat on the back end, a little pepper flavor, but its way subtle. maybe because this has been out while now it has faded? but i didnt think heat did that. worse is that this is basically a tripel, same yeast and grain profile to it, same sweetness on the back end. its not bad beer, but its nothing special, and i expect more (still) from this series, especially with cigar city in on it, it just comes across so generic. full bodied and creamy feeling with nice poppy bubbles, i like all that, but its still of the mark for me. give me something to ponder in these beers like you used to!

On the side of the bottle, it says "best if enjoyed by November 2014"

Into a pint glass and a tulip.

A: pretty much the same color in both pieces of glassware = slightly hazy golden orange/amber colored body, light half fingered white foamy lacing tries to cling to the sides of the glassware but slides in both pieces of glassware

S: chile beer? really? uh... interesting, I'm not really getting any spiciness anywhere, however, this is what I'm getting - light tropical citrusy notes

T: slightly sweet and has a somewhat tropical citrusy sweet bitterness trying to balance it; no aftertaste, quick dry finish

M: it doesn't really seem 8.5%, pretty sessionable for the most part, carbonation is fairly subdued as there's not as much harshness as I had hoped for coming from a chile beer, no hotness whatsoever

O: what the heck was this stuff, really New Belgium, if I could give an emoticon I'd give that "confused" look like really guys, I thought you were better than this. If I want a chile beer again, I'll go for Rogue's Chipotle.
