Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a New Belgium Globe glass. Bottle says enjoy by June, 15, 2014.

Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. One finger of white head which slowly settles into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A bready and yeasty blonde style aroma with hints of fruit and spice. Belgian yeast with some hints of clove and black pepper. Bready pale malt with hints of biscuit, grains, cracker, and dough. Fruit hints of lemon, orange, apple, and pear. Also some hints of floral and grassy hops. A pretty solid and balanced aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a bready and grainy Belgian style taste with notes of fruit and spice. Belgian yeast with some black pepper and clove. Pale malt with bready notes of biscuit, grains, cracker, straw, and dough. Fruity notes of lemon zest, apple, pear, and orange. Decent hop background with some floral and grassy hops. Starts sweet but finishes fairly bitter. A solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp and fairly tangy with a drying finish.

Overall: A pretty solid twist on a Belgian style ale. Good pilsner like biscuity notes with some fruit presence.

Jan. 2014 review of this on tap, confirmed with an April 2014 bottle.
Large, semi-durable white head that leaves plenty of foamy lacing. Excellent clarity.

More hoppy than malty and with only a faint trace of Belgian yeast, this tastes about as much like an APA as a blonde. Lemony. Mildly bitter finsih.

F: medium-light body with medium, high carbonation.

O: a good if hoppy version of the style.

This beer is a pale gold, completely clear. In fact, it has a glassiness that almost makes it clearer than even the lightness of color makes possible. The head is just over one finger tall, almost pure white, with a dense fluffiness and good stick.
This beer is an interesting blend of sweetness, soft not-quite-raw, not-quite-earthy elements, and a variety of fruit notes as well as grains. It showcases pale malts, almost crackery but soft, maybe slightly doughy. Mild grassiness shows a light hops addition along with a hint of herb that comes in and out. A mild but high sweetness is on the nose and the tongue from beginning to finish. The sweeter notes include citrus (like lemon and/or orange Italian soda), something like honey, banana and soft white flesh notes of apple and pear. The herbal notes become a little more prominent as it goes, not overtaking the sweetness but putting up a good show alongside it. From middle to finish, more graininess pulls into the flavor. The finish is comprised mostly of that mingling of herb and sweetness.
It's crisp and light on the palate with a crisp bite accompanied by a soft fluffiness even into a slightly slick but gently nipping finish.
