Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a New Belgium Globe glass. Bottle says enjoy by June, 15, 2014.

Appearance: Pours a bright golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. One finger of white head which slowly settles into a thin patchy layer. Leaves a lot of lacing around the glass.

Smell: A bready and yeasty blonde style aroma with hints of fruit and spice. Belgian yeast with some hints of clove and black pepper. Bready pale malt with hints of biscuit, grains, cracker, and dough. Fruit hints of lemon, orange, apple, and pear. Also some hints of floral and grassy hops. A pretty solid and balanced aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a bready and grainy Belgian style taste with notes of fruit and spice. Belgian yeast with some black pepper and clove. Pale malt with bready notes of biscuit, grains, cracker, straw, and dough. Fruity notes of lemon zest, apple, pear, and orange. Decent hop background with some floral and grassy hops. Starts sweet but finishes fairly bitter. A solid taste.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp and fairly tangy with a drying finish.

Overall: A pretty solid twist on a Belgian style ale. Good pilsner like biscuity notes with some fruit presence.

This "Blonde" tastes like a Pilsner with a higher ABV. Strange - I had it on tap initially and enjoyed it, in that form the alcohol was evident but it was refreshing and sweet. In the bottle, Pilsner sneak attack. Blech. A real swing and a miss from New Belgium.

A--Very pale yellow. Thin head that disappears rather quickly. Leaves light lacing on the glass.

S--Not much here, honestly. Lemon, a hint of hops. A little grassy.

T--Good, but not remarkable really. The lemon is there right off the bat, slight malt type taste in the middle, and a light bitterness to finish up. Refreshing and quick drinking, but not a standout.

M--Very light, which suites the style I guess. Lightly carbonated.

O--A solid effort, and a good, easy drinker for the spring/summer months. Certainly not New Belgium's best beer, but again, solid. I like Fat Tire better. I'd drink it if it were available at a party, or serve it to non-craft beer drinking friends, but I probably won't buy it again for myself.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Best by May 18, 2014.

A - Very clear, pale yellow. could be a blue moon, or any cheap budget filtered beer (that's where the similarity ends)

S - almost none

T - Beautiful. a mild taste that you have to 'listen' to appreciate. sweet with the mildest of bitter. multi-layered. extreme clean and thirst quenching. i could sit back and happily have six of these.

M - Very thin in texture. watery with no after taste at all. clean, delicious, and instantly over.

Overall:
I'm impressed. for a bargain beer, this has multi-layered flavor of sweet and bitter married perfectly together. it's a summer beer, and i appreciate it's lightness. no noticeable presence of alcohol. at this price point, it's a top notch choice. that said, it's a overly filtered yellow beer, which could serve as an acceptable water substitute on a hot day.

for what it is, it's one of the best you're ever gonna find under 1.50$ a bottle.

I am a huge fan of Belgian style ales. This beer intrigued me and I was excited to try it...I have had great experiences with New Belgium in the past.

The smell and appearance of Spring Blonde excited me, everything was great...until my first sip!

The taste of Spring Blonde was overwhelming...and not in a good way! I struggled through the first bottle of the six pack, hoping it would grow on me, and then dumped the rest down the drain. What a disappointment...I would highly recommend that you DO NOT try this beer! I have been extremely happy with all other New Belgium beers that I have purchased but this one seems to miss the target...so disappointing! :(
