New Belgium has a very unique taste with most of their IPA's. They have a great peach/mango sweetness, with very little malt stealing the show. The pine bitterness is there, but not big. There is also this sweet bready taste that I can't I put my finger on.

This is my kind of IPA. New Belgium calls it a Juicy Fruit flavor, and that's what it is. The hops are perfect and shine.

Citra, Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo

Best by August 31 2014.Pours into an imperial nonic a clear rich copper/brass color with a sticky tight formed half finger white head atop.Fresh cut grass and floral hop notes on the palate along with some grapefruit, quite a hop profile, come sweet biscuit is there as well.An airy feel in the mouth, not light but quite lush and it goes down easy.Green ripe hop flavors with nice complexity upfront with grass, leaf, and grapefruit all coming into play, lightly sweet and bready underneath.Just a real solid APA with alot of good hop stuff going on,very nice job here.

22 oz bottle, enjoy by 8/31/14. Pours clear copper gold with a big rocky off-white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is biscuity malt and grassy hops.

The flavor is sweet biscuity malts with grassy, minty hops that have decent bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a creamy body.

Overall, an OK pale. I don't care for the biscuity malt or grassy hops. Odell's version of this was so much better - hoppy with fruity, resiny hops.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Golden amber with good sized white head.

Smell: Grapefruit, pine and some tropical notes.

Taste: The malt backbone is somewhat biscuity, while the hops are subtle and complex with orange, grapefruit, pine, spice and tropical notes. The finish is much more hoppy than bitter, and somehow the hops are both center stage and restrained at the same time.

Feel: Fairly smooth and creamy with moderate carbonation. Dry and resiny.

Overall: This tastes like St. Lupulin but with a little of the New Belgium biscuit malt backbone. This is collaboration where I can actually tell who the collaborators are. Not quite as good as St. Lupulin in my opinion, but still very good.

22oz bottle. Echoes of Brewdog's stoat bottle packaging gimmick a few years back.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium copper amber hue, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly ecru head, which leaves some decent layered snow rime lace around the glass as it slowly sinks away.

It smells of semi-sweet muddled tropical fruit, orange and grapefruit flesh, pine resin, bready caramel malt, hard toffee, a bit of earthy yeast, and further leafy, grassy hops. The taste is gritty, grainy caramel malt, sweet orange cream, overripe Texas red grapefruit, mildly acrid pine needles, a touch of earthy, metallic spice, indistinct light orchard fruit, and more leafy, grassy, and floral hops.

The carbonation is average in its tightly-held, frothy emanations, the body a solid medium weight, and mostly smooth, but for a subtle flinty undertone, more booze than hop in origin, it would seem. It finishes off-dry, the caramel malt turning somewhat biscuity, the fruitiness holding firm, and the bitter pine/citrus/floral hops starting to show a few quivering lips.

A pretty tasty and enjoyable, full-flavoured American pale ale, with plenty of nods to the same in an IPA, especially given the generally well-integrated and elevated ABV. Two quite respectable breweries, coming together, and not getting in each other's way - NBB malt goodness, and Odell's proclivity with the hops add up to one heady overall effort. Here's hoping that they can keep the prairie dogs from learning of keg-tapping technology.
