Overall 3.5

Pours dark amber color with finger width foamy head. Mild head retention and lacing on side of the glass. Has a grapefruit and slightly piney aroma. Pale malty taste up front, followed by a slightly hoppy taste. There is a hint of grapefruit at the end. This beer does seem a little watered down, but is overall decent.

Pours a deep, orange-amber, with a thick, luxurious head of fine off-white foam. Lace is loopy but nice.

Nose is primarily caramel malts and floral hops, in a nicely-rendered balance.

Taste is a definite classic pale ale (rather than the usual modern American pale ale, which is often indistinguishable from some IPAs), with hops present, but the caramel malts playing an equal role, providing balance and weight to this easy-drinking ale. Nicely done. Not a world changer, but a solid brew for a late Summer/early Fall day.

Bottle from Tipples. Enjoy by Dec 2014, poured 8/17/14. Pours dark amber brown but clear with plenty of light showing through, and a one finger fluffy white head. Light hop aroma, floral, with some light malt breadiness. Flavor is bready malt, low sweetness, some floral hop notes, but very much malt forward almost like a fresh mash. A bit watery and low on flavor but altogether inoffensive and easy drinking. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Pretty bland but not bad in any way.

Poured into a standard pint a clear rich copper with a half finger sticky white head.Nutty malt and piney hops in the nose, not overly sweet.Biscuit sweetness upfront on the palate with some drying nutty malts, the hops come in late giving off some green leafiness and mild pine, some noticeable sharpness from the rye is detected.A well flavored somewhat quaffing APA with a nice shot of rye, well done.

Too bitter. May be best had with flavorful food.

Poured from the 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a surprisingly dark, nearly brown, amber with a two-finger foamy and airy head that quickly compacts to one finger. It left lacing all down the glass.

The aroma is full of floral notes as well as orange and lemon and a hint of toffee.

This beer tastes wonderful. Lots of citrus and tropical fruit up front with a little caramel and toffee right behind with a lingering, dry bitter note and, perhaps, even a touch of toasted bread.

The mouthfeel is slick and yet smooth with just-right carbonation.

Overall, this is a really good pale ale that kept me coming back for more. Nice balance, wonderful flavor. Fall only? Bummer.

Pours a deep amber copper hue with a beige khaki colored head formed thick with great carbonation, fine speckled lacing evenly with each sip…this beer is looking great.

Aroma is full of pine, crushed aspirin, a hint of cat piss from those Amarillo hops but in moderation. Even some pine and citrus notes arise in the hop nose very pleasant, with a touch of perceived sweetness and bready malts.

Flavor is dank, earthy tea, herbal hops with some bready slightly caramelized malts overall a dry earthy finish with each sip. Complex hops, citrus notes, even floral rose hips.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied dry finish biting hops very nice character semi dry enough malt sweetness to balance it out, lingering hop flavors lay on the palate…which I’m quite pleased with.

Overall, completely ideal sessionable >or= to 6% abv, a hoppy fall seasonal to add to my rotation of Southern Tier Harvest, Troeg’s Hop Knife, Ottercreek Overgrown, Sierra Nevada Harvest Ales.

Enjoy by date of December 21 '14.

Appearance - Pours crystal clear with a golden amber hue and an off-white finger width head. Fair retention leads to a broken layer of surface suds and a fair ring around the edges. Fair lacing around the glass with good stick. 3.75

Smell - New Belgium malt profile all over the nose; nutty and toasted biscuit character. Hops are subdues, but in there. Lightly floral with a hint of citrus. 3.75

Taste - Malts dominate upfront with that Classic NB profile before balancing out with a nice hop bite that's moderately floral with hints of citrus and black pepper spice, peaking near the finish before fading in the aftertaste. 3.75

Mouthfeel - Light to medium body with moderate carbonation. Goes down with beautiful silky smoothness; nigh chuggable. 4.25

Overall - If I had to describe this in 10 words or less, I'd say Fat Tire with a flavorful hop kick. Good flavor with superb drinkability makes this one of New Belgium's better offerings. I could definitely stand to drink a few more. 4

Enjoy by Dec 21 14

Pours an effervescent amber with 3 fingers of eggshell colored head. Stellar head retention & lacing,
stays effervescent throughout

S: Breadyness, lemons & a little grassiness up front along with some grapefruit. Started strong,
but faded once warm (3.75)

T: Biscuitty malt, a little grapefruit & slight herbal bitterness up front. Pineapple, herbal hops,
dryness & grassy notes once warm. Finishes crisp, with woody & grapefruitty hops & dryness
(3.75)

MF: Medium bodied, slightly over carbonated, pretty good balance (3.5)

Drinks easy, a solid APA, but not one I would get excited about, if I ever saw it a again (3.5)
