Too sweet for me. I feel like I'm drinking cranberry sauce.

Not to sweet or tart but well balanced. I really enjoyed this the few times I had it. It isn't a go-to, but fruit beers are generally not my mainstay...

Bottle poured into shaker pint. Courtesy of Tim that night I didn’t have the right channel for the ’Hawks game and we watched T’s skiing video w/Kristy. Medium red-brown body with tan head and a few patches of lace. Aroma is dominated by toasted malt and raspberry. Taste is slightly tart raspberry, sweet toasted malt, hints of cocoa and nut on the swallow. Medium body, soft creamy texture, moderate carbonation, dry finish with lingering tartness.

A nice easy drinking fruity beer. Seems lighter and a tad more watery than the ABV states, but its still a nice refreshing beer.

12oz bottle, enjoy by 12 April 2015. Served in a snifter glass 2/1/15.

A- Medium dark purple-red body, one finger offwhite head with fair retention time, no lacing, small film and collar. Slightly copper in hue.

S- Raspberry jam, sugary fruit sweetness a bit like a Jolly Rancher. As it warms, the sugar fades into a background of mild milk chocolate sweetness and a bit of cocoa. Nice smelling beer.

F- Slightly astringent raspberry fruitiness with a good bit of earthy, almost herbal bitterness. As in the nose, I get a little bit more chocolate flavours on the back end, more of the darker variety. Slight booze on the backend. Flavour profile seems to be a bit of a mess here; although in the middle of the palate there seems to be a very brief glimpse of what they probably intended this beer to be- chocolate covered raspberries. Then it's gone.

M- Medium bodied, a bit syrupy on the feel, fairly prickly, stinging carbonation that might even be a bit much for my enjoyment of the beer. Bitter herbal earthy finish on the end, a bit of raspberry fruit. Not much chocolate on the finish.

O- Pretty decent, smells great as I would expect from fresh raspberries but the mix on the palate leaves a bit to be desired. Not a bad effort by New Belgium at all, but I think the carbonation and bitterness is a bit too much. I think the raspberry sweetness would otherwise be balanced out by the chocolate, toasted malts of the base brown ale; the earthy, herbal hop additions aren't really necessary.

12 oz. bottle, with enjoy by date April 12, 2015 printed on the label. A new one to me from New Belgium, acquired the six pack from the local beer store.

Poured into a La Fin Du Monde tulip glass.

A - It pours a semi-clear ruby colored body with about two fingers of bubbly pinkish khaki head. Has an almost cranberry juice sort of appearance.

S - The aroma is pleasant enough - lots of sweetened mild tartness in the vain of a fruit beer, with a very distinguished chocolate malt presence in the background.

T - The taste is well enough for what it is; a nice marriage of semi-tart raspberry and roasty chocolate malts. A slight medicinal edge, but for the most part everything is pretty authentic.

M - The feel is smooth, crisp, and easy drinking. Moderate carbonation.

Overall, I'd call it a slightly above average representation of the style, but definitely drinkable and enjoyable. Would have it again if the occasion did arise.

Amber/reddish hue with a decent cap of pink-tinged foam
Aroma-berries and malt
Taste-Rasberry, toasted malt, medium bodied. An interesting take on a holiday brew.
