Poured from 12oz bottle.
A- Pours a clear brownish coppery color. Half finger tan head that shows poor retention overall. No lacing at all sticks to the sides of the glass which made me a little sad.
S- Lots of bready undertones to this beer. I mean throughout the entire aroma. Light darker fruits (prunes, raisins, even light fig)blend well with light spicing. There is something else I can't quite put my finger on...oh well.
T- Darker fruits jump off the tongue in the front of this beer. There is a light spicing to the end of the front that takes me by surprise. Middle of the beer is more bready and malty. There is a light New Belgium malt taste but it is hidden mostly in this beer. Interesting taste in the middle. Back end of the beer has some light spicing that blends with a sweeter caramel like malt.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the stlye. Light darker fruits left on the palate. Malty aftertaste with some light alcohol. Flavors were well blended for what they were. Medium to heavy drying on the palate from the alcohol.
D- This was a surprise for me from NB. Not at all what I was expecting. Not the greatest Abbey Ale I have had but still not the worst. Alcohol was pretty well hidden from the front of the beer. I would buy this one again and drink it if given to me.
