Clear red-amber with small beige head that leaves a surprising amount of lacing.
Body: Nicely smooth but with some unwanted heat/astringency. Semi-dry finish.
Spicy aroma, but with a different spice profile than expected. Less clove (thankfully), for one thing and more ??? cardoman? than some dubbels.
Taste: A good note of banana that was not obvious in the nose. Plenty of dark dried fruits. A bit of clove comes forth here despite it's low profile in the nose.
O - [3.75] Nice flavor profile but, nonetheless, seems like a clear step down when sampled soon after enjoying one of the great true Belgians. Improves with warming (mandatory) and aging.
