Pours a crystal clear dark golden brown with a thin layer of white foam that disappears after a minute or so.
Smells fruity with esters. That ester, co2 and fruit is really all that I get from the smell. No malt or hops. Follows the Belgian Abbey style nicely.
Taste is more of those fruity esters with more of a sweet malt back bone. Slight toffee and caramel if you look hard enough for it. Nice sweet body but I wouldn't call it heavy.
Mouthfeel is just about right for the style. If I'd have to choose one or the other I'd say it's undercarbonated rather than over. Sweet and dry from the dark candi sugar.
Overall this is a good beer. Reminds me of an Ommegang Abbey Ale, only with half the mark-up. Follows the abbey ale styles nicely without much flaw.
