Quite red bodied, dark, but much clearer than the average dubbel. Significant beige head that seemed loose at first but has good retention and leaves plenty of lacing. Looking good.
Dark cherries and candy sugar fill the nose right away. There is a hint of belgian yeast and something flowery, but the sweetness dominates. Nice, but a little sweeter than I'd like to the nose.
Taste is really nice, and has a better balance than the nose. Still cherries and candy sugar, but with some dryness and some citrus impressions. Not the most complex dubbel, but very nice flavour.
Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Comfortable sipper, hits the mark in the mouthfeel.
I like this one quite a bit, but I've yet to be disappointed by New Belgium, so no surprise there.
