Pours a dark amber with a nice, thick brown head that stayed longer than most. Aroma has a distinct banana smell followed by the usual belgian style spiciness.
Taste is a very muted fruit flavor followed by a hoppy bitterness and then a hint of the spices, finally finished off by an aftertaste of banana. This beer has more variety and distinctiveness of flavors than any other I have had. Mouthfeel is a good balance of carbonation and thickness that leaves a nice, long lasting aftertaste.
Definitely a good beer. Not as sweet or light as other belgian style ales, but this one definitely carves its own niche in the style. At this price I could see this beer becoming one of the mainstays in my fridge.
