A: 1554 definitely looks like a beer should, with gorgeous layered lacing, a huge foamy tan head, and a gorgeous nearly opaque dark reddish brown with notes of crimson when held to the light.
S: Sweet and fruity with roasted malt and dark chocolate.
T: Smoky roasted malt and tobacco, with a bit of dark chocolate and nuttiness. Also a little bit of bitter hops and a light but noticeable alcohol warmth.
M: Sparkly, moderate carbonation; a pleasant light and creamy mouthfeel.
D: Easily, EASILY my favorite year-round offering from New Belgium. When it's on tap, I just can't say no.
