This is a review of the 2012 version.
Very dark chestnut in appearance, violet against the light. A good amount of head dissipates to leave a small ring touching the glass. Sour aroma hits you right away. Light fruit accompanies it: strawberry, cherry, cranberry. Pretty traditional Flanders brown malt lies beneath the sourness. A little chocolate comes out with a swirl. Oak comes off a bit strong and seemed a little off. Taste starts super sour. Lots of strawberries and cherries. Some nuttiness. Oak comes through, but barely. I almost had to look for it, but it came as the beer warmed. Watery and dry.
Interesting, but not complex. The flavor was very one note and the aroma had an off smell to it, maybe diacetyl or phenols. This wasn't all together unpleasant, but definitely not worth the price. Maybe I'm spoiled by the local RRBC sours & availability of Rodenbach.

Served on tap in a 11oz. goblet.
A- Deep garnet with a light toffee head, good degree of clarity.
S- Sour apple, light vinegar, some oak, maybe a bit of spice and vanilla.
T- More sour apple than anything, then some light vinegar, some oak, finishes dry. Not as complex as Le Terrior IMO.
M- Medium a bit more carbonation then I was expecting.
O- A great American version of the style and one of the best beers I've had from New Belgium. Definitely give this one a try.
