Poured from a bomber into a Brewer's Art goblet. Moderately aggressive hand. 2014 edition. 7% ABV.
A: Slightly hazy, chestnut red-brown body. Almost 1 finger of off-white head with below average retention, but leaves very cool sudsy legs. Nice lacing.
S: Sour cherry. Citric acid, lactic acid and a touch of acetic. Sour grape. Lemon. Brown sugar. Faint oak. Nose is sweeter than the taste.
T: Assertive sour with only a very faint sweetness. Hints of malt occasionally break the surface, suggesting subtle chocolate notes. Cherry predominates in terms of fruit. Mild bitterness on a semi-dry, puckering finish. Quite sour. Alcohol is well hidden. Lemon candy/Lemonhead essence lingers in the aftertaste.
M: Low to moderate carbonation with a light body. Appropriate and suiting.
O: I'd say it's a sour bomb, with minimal sweetness and only a bit of hop bitterness to mitigate. The depth of scent is good and definitely changes as it warms. I found the taste to be a bit more one-dimensional. But if a solid tartness gets you going, I'd give this one a whirl (or two) for sure.
