22oz bottle poured into a Cantillon wine glass. Bottle generously provided as an extra by thagr81us in the 'Nice Piece of Glass' CIF, thanks a ton Calton!
A - Pours a reddish brown, ruby with chestnut highlights. A fizzy, 1.5-finger head builds but fades away quick with a quiet buzz. Lacing is non-existent.
S - Smell is full of sour fruit; tart cherries and apples, intermingled with grapes. The color deceives me here, as it smells like a white wine, mixed with some slight vinegar. Very inviting smell.
T - The taste follows the nose to an extent, and again feels like a white wine. The apples come through stronger here and it seems that the cherries don't come through until near the end. It's much more sour than I would've thought, and the bugs surely do their job well here. The finish is long and sour, finishing with fruit and vinegar.
M - Mouthfeel is moderately light-bodied with good carbonation. Feels much like a sparkling wine. A little mouth-puckering even after its gone.
D/O - Drinkability is high. I drank this over the course of a few periods of hockey and through dinner and it was just as good when I was done as when I started. Not the most sour beer but its a great example of the style.
