Really awesome tartness in this. Not getting a ton of the hop bitterness in the finish due to the crazy awesome tartness but I do get a nice aromatic sweet hop smell in the nose. Really great beer.

Bottle dated 08/19/14:
Pours a straight golden with a good amount if fluffy white head that dissipates slowly to a gossamer film, with the edges providing good lacing. The beer is quite fact in this pour. The nose, to me, is mostly mango but I get strawberry as well in the fruit side, which is quite pleasant. Underneath I get a farmhouse hay earthiness, which actual ends up seeming kind of funky stale to me.

The taste hits the mouth with a decent dose of sour, but it gives way to the mango-like flavors from the nose. When the beer still has a little chill, the sour fruit flavors are subdued kind of surprisingly quickly by the earthy farmhouse flavors I associate with saison style beers. As the beer warms a bit, the sour lasts a little linger, and the carbonation brings the feel more into the experience adding a nip on the tongue. In the end I get just a hint of forest that is actually interesting.

I am not sure if I like the addition of depth to a sour. There seems to be a regular beer not-too-well hidden behind a dose of fruity tartness. I liked the tropical fruit tastes with the sour. However, adding the more earthy tones that I assume come from larger amounts of more flavorful hops than might otherwise be used in a sour I think detracts from the part I initially enjoyed. I still rated it decently because it is a fine beer, but I think there was potential to be even better.

Pours a hazy golden-orange color with a frothy white head that leaves chunks of lacing.

Smells of citrus and tropical fruits coupled with some sourness.

Tastes of fruity hops layered with sweet malts and some tartness. Hops lead off with orange, mango, and pineapple. This gives way to a fruity sourness with cherries and cranberries. The sourness plays well with the fruity hops. Some sweet malts add in the middle. A bit of oak woodiness and funk round everything out before finishing with some lingering tart cranberries.

Mouthfeel is medium with a slightly crisp amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is very tasty, and I wish I had tried it sooner.

A: Pours a burnt orange with a nice off-white head.

S: Aroma is super-citrusy. Lots of orange and grapefruit and apricot notes, along with some lemony acidity lurking.

T: Taste brings earthy sourness, bit of bitter grapefruit pith, light vanilla wood tannin, lemon, mango, super drying and fruity.

M: Light-bodied with light carb.

O: Always a pleasure. One of the few New Belgium beers along with La Folie still working buying.
