If you are looking for one of the highest quality session beers around, then this is the one for you. With a very pleasant 4.8% ABV, the Mothership has a very mild alcohol component that is off in the distance behind what is really the winner of the brew, the taste. This is a perfect beer for a good ole cookout with a couple of buddies and would pair nicely with some grilled chicken or fish.

As expected, the pour comes across as a nice and hazy, deep and rich golden straw color that lets very little light through when held up. There is almost a sense when this beer is poured that if one was to imagine what a good witbier really should look like when it is poured that this offering would be the ideal picture to meet that definition.

Upon pour there are all the good things one hopes to be able to pick up in a witbier. Rich and vibrant spices like coriander and traces of orange peel come rushing outward from the glass and there is a bit of cloves also mixed into the nose. There is a notable citrus impact that is sensed within the glass and the balance for the smell seems right on.

The most pleasant aspect of the Mothership is as expected the taste. As previously stated this is a good session beer so the smooth balance of the alcohol content really allows the taste to speak for itself. What is present in the nose really does come across nicely in the taste as well. There is a nice soft bread taste to some of the wheat that shines through in the taste and the same citrus in the nose works its way across the palate. As opposed to some witbiers, there is an element of spiciness that really works at the finish of the taste and rounds out the offering nicely.

The mouthfeel of the Mothership once again maintains a balanced composure to it. By taking the mild ABV and matching it to a nice taste, the smooth and crisp mouthfeel that is present with the Mothership really does become accentuated during the drinking of this beer.
