Not bad, but definitely not the best witbier I've had. This one is new to Iowa, and one of the few New Belgium beers I hadn't already tried.
Looks nice. Has the distinct "white" appearance, though it could stand to be a little cloudier to help whiten it up even more. Fairly yellow. Frothy white head with poor retention and lacing. Decent carbonation.
The smell is lacking. Just a touch of that grainy wheat aroma, but I don't pick up on any coriander / orange peel. Maybe just a hint of pepper spice. Just a hint of what a friend of mine describes as "urinal cake," distinct to witbiers.
The taste makes up for what the aroma lacks. Still plenty of grainy wheat, though the coriander and orange peel show through as well. A touch of banana and peppery spice. Kind of has a nasty bile aftertaste. I would like to see a touch more of coriander and orange.
The mouthfeel is very light. No alcohol flavor, as expected. Fairly dry for what I expected. Could be much more drinkable without some of the off flavors. Not bad. Worth trying once, but probably not again.
