The bartender set in front of me in an american pint glass filled with a hazey golden orange beer. The beer was capped with a fingers worth of white head that quickly disapated leaving little lacing.

Sweet honey and light floral aromas lift from the glass.

The taste is heavy on sweetness followed by a citrusy bitterness. If you've ever had dandilion greens in a salad you know the flavor. As the beer warms the strong upfront flavors mellow and other flavors begin to emerge floral esters, hints of grass, some alcohol on the finish. The belgian yeast adds fruitiness.
The bitter flavors linger in the mouth for sometime after I swallow.
Overall a very interesting experiment however I don't think I'm ready to trade hops for dandilions on a regular basis.

Growler thanks to Francois.

Decent fizzy head for growler, hazy golden orange color

Nose interesting but weird grainy fermentation aroma, light flowery and green, yeasty, more weed like than dandelion.

Taste flowery but earthy, dandelion like, fermented grain and sweet sugar juice, light bitterness, light lemon grassy hay. It's like the earthy weird parts of the dandelion was fermented with table sugar, not so great.

Mouth is med to lighter bodied, decent carb for a growler.

Overall meh, unique kinda, but compared to the Hill Farmstead dandelion saison this doesn't even register on the same chart, it's kinda bleh.

Reviewed from notes.

Pours a golden color with a bit of haze. The nose brings some flowers with a bit of spice. There are some definite citrus notes in there as well. The taste is spicy with a bit of lemon and citrus. Flowers and a bit of light bread. Good carbonation and decent body, although in the end everything seems divergent and really didn't come together for me.

01.19.10 at City Beer Store

A: bubbly and peachy gold; quite pretty

S: fresh and clean, like a nice spring/summer refresher

T: sooo not what I expected. I was looking for tartness and maybe some wildflower/weedy flavor, but I tastes more honey than anything else

M: interesting and unexpectedly good; rolled around in the mouth quite nicely

D: a nice beer, though, I think I'd rather have any other Lips of Faith

This beer really surprised me. Although the ratings I gave were fairly high (its components were nice), overall, I expected to like it much more than I actually did. It's like a been-there-done-that beer, so I may or may not have it again. Although, there's always the possibility that it's better the second time around.

an interesting saison...bitter, perfummy, and a bit of fruit.

look is yellow orange cloudy with a thick head and some lacing. - poured in a tulip glass.

taste is very saison like, a bit of ripe fruit, some yeasts, and a very bitter clean hoppy character which is quite unique as i'm sure it comes from the dandelion.

mouthfeel is good, smooth and bubbly/carbonated.

a good beer, an interesting concept but nothing earth-shattering.

On-tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse. Served in a generic tulip.

Cloudy pale amber with tangerine and straw highlights with a bumpy thin head of shock white foam.

The aromas are potent and unique - the best thing about this beer. Ester-heavy, yeast, and intensely floral - wildflowers, roses, daisies/mums - all backed by honey.

Oranges, ambrosia, weeds, and more honey on the palate. The crisp white grape juice notes combine with a light malt note into the finish, which while sweet, is nowhere near as cloying as dandelion wine.

Medium-bodied, smooth, and slightly sticky mouthfeel - lightly warming fruity alcohol.

This is almost too sweet, but is so fruity and floral that the glass goes down rapidly none-the-less.

What Midas Touch is to mead, this is to dandelion wine. Hard to rate as there isn't much to compare it to style-wise - a fascinating experiment.

On draught at The Bier Stein in Eugene. Served in a Czechvar cervoise, New Belgium's Dandelion Ale is a hazy gold with a small white head that leaves scattered lace.

Smell is moderate, honey and flowers, with light fusels.

Taste is kind of generic strong blonde, with notes of grain, fusels and light banana and clove esters. Nothing particularly floral or herbal, or whatever one might expect to get from the dandelion, apparently it just provided the bitterness rather then hops?

Mouthfeel is very creamy, but a bit heavy of a Belgian Blonde (even though listed as an American Blonde here, the esters don't fit that).

Drinkability is average. Not very interesting, a little to strong and heavy, I expected a more uniquely flavored saison rather then a generic, strong dirty blonde!

A: Pours a bright golden yellow with an amazing white foamy head

S: Slight earthy smell, with a hint of licorice

T: Very floral taste, with slight caramel notes

M: Light bodied, dry finish, high ABV

D: Unbelievable brew, especially for the out of the box thinking of brewing a beer sans hops. So many flavors come out of this beer to explain.

On tap at the Raven's Cafe today.

The beer pours a somewhat hazy peachy honey color with good head retention and OK lacing. The nose on this beer is pretty interesting, consising of honey, cola and alfalfa. Kind of an odd combination, but it's not bad. Flavors replicate the nose, except there is very little herbaceousness on this moderately sweet beer, with the flavor profile dominated by cola and honey. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly smooth, and drinkabilty is pretty good. Alcohol is not detectable at all, and this beer was not the least bit heavy or tiring on the palate.

Not the best Lips of Faith beer I've had from NB, but a very solid beer nonetheless. Interesting stuff.

lost cell phone notes

appearance: served in a tulip - hazy golden body, white foam

smell: not sure i can pick up dandelion specifically but its rather floral - sweet yeast

taste: a floral flavor profile but not really exceptional in my eyes - comes off a bit too sweet and syrupy, honey, adequately spiced

mouthfeel: medium, high sweetness levels

drinkability: ok

On tap at the Hopleaf.

Pours a soft, slightly milky tan, with a nice thick head soon reducing to film. Something about the appearance lets you know this isnt your typical brew.

Smell is light; some flowers and light sweetness. The taste lets just a little of the sweetness through, though I was slightly disappointed to not have our friend the dandelion showcase itself more here. Seemed to be very mild.

A drinkable, if mellow, brew. I can't say that I would reach for this during an evening session, other than a starter, however, I could see a couple glasses of this pairing very well with a lawnmower. Worth a spin.
