I have really been enjoying Ranger in this summer heat. Went through several six packs before giving it my marks.
The pour produces a love golden hue clear body with a big thick foamy head. Retention was good, left a nice rim of lacing around my tulip glass. Lots of champagne bubble action going on. This beer is already a feast for the eyes.
Aroma is tell tale hops and pine. This is some fair herbal notes to point out, with hints of grass and lemon peel. Grapefruit pungency is also there, but very much subdued.
Flavor was much to be expected. Begins with some fair floral hops then gives way to grapefruit bitterness, and a bit of piney resin to round it all out. I can also pick up there house yeast, it adds to the herbal and grassy undertones of the brew without being over the top. Nicely malty in the finish with some lasting bitterness.
Mouthfeel is fine and dandy. Just big enough to enjoy as a sipper, and light enough to enjoy in a session. Carbonation was ample.
Drinkability get good marks for being readily available and being resonable priced for an IPA. Looks like I will going back for more sixers because I can't get enough. Good job New Belgium.
