12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
A: Pale copper that pours a one finger head that quickly dissolves. Small carbonation bubbles that grow as the rise up the glass.
S: Lemon, ginger, and pine on the nose.
T: A bitter start with strong grapefruit and sour lemon flavors, some peppery spices. On the bitter side that is initially a crisp, citrus bite of bitterness, but lacks a complementing flavor. Malty, biscuit sweetness if there, but pops in too late.
M: A bit astringent at first, but smooths out with some biscuity, yeasty sweetness. Nice warming sensation on the throat.
O: Overall, a good, but not great tasting beer. I was not as impressed in the aromas and appearance. The taste was a bit flat as well, lacking that kick in the teeth and roun. Good mouthfeel. Not a complete departure from their Belgian beer roots, this IPA maintains some spice characteristics that resemble a Belgian, but I would recommend other Colorado IPAs over this one.
