poured from a 12 oz into my arrogant bastard pint glass, looks picture perfect classic ipa. Hazy yellow and light coppery gold in coloration, a nice lively amount of carbonation. Nice cream white finger of head dissipates quick with nice head cling.
The smell is a little on the lighter side for what I would like in an ipa, but it's characteristic New Belgium springtime freshness. Aromatic hops impart a very floral, organic new flowering plant growth.
The flavor is quite nice, citrusy from the bittering hops which comes through as a combo sour lemon sweet apricot, hint of pine which is completely muted by the balancing malt which is a flower honey taste. Can't forget about the spices which are present in small amounts; coriander and orange zest like in a wheat but with an added fresh leafy herb that I cannot explicitly define (sorry!). Super mellow ipa though, it's got flavor for sure which is definitely not the intense kind, good intro brew I think.
Solid mouthfeel, it's got the malt needed to balance the many hop flavors used, not watery at all which is great.
This is probably one of the most drinkable ipa's on the market, it's refreshing in aroma and flavor, has substantial malt for a solid body character while at the same time isn't so thick you can't drink more than a sip at a time.
