Bought a pint bottle from work yesterday after a looong shift. Poured into a US standard pint glass.
A - Pale, golden yellow with a thick, slightly creamy head that dissolves into a nice residual foam. Beautiful lacing and a steady stream of bubbles from the bottom. 4.5
S - Strong hop scent with a hint of grapefruit and lemon zest. Beautiful smell, honestly I might be addicted to it. 4.5
T - Slightly sweet flavor at the beginning that dissolves into a well-balanced, hoppy aftertaste. Flavor at the middle of the tongue is really complex and hard to describe, but it manages to bridge the beginning and end together extraordinarily well. 4.5
M - Crisp and lightly carbonated, and the bitterness of the hops leaves a tangy, dry flavor on the back of the tongue. 4.0
O - New Belgium's Ranger is one of the most balanced IPAs I've had. Hoppy flavor isn't overpowering at all and is easy to put down without feeling jipped. 4.5

A) poured from a 12oz bottle into glassware, Ranger poured a clear copper color with a sub 1/2 finger head that quickly settled and did not leave much lacing to speak of
S) nice bouquet some sweet malt that almost has a jolly rancher smell, some nice piney hops, some grapefruit and other tropical fruits
T) malt is sweeter than most but has a bit of biscuit and toast, hops come through much like the smell with pine, citrus, and a hint of tropical fruit. Nice balanced finish.
M) nice thickness, a bit oily from hop resin (this is good), and nice carbonation - pretty drinkable for an IPA
O) Ranger is a solid IPA that offers some interesting hop flavors with a fairly sweet malt background. Hops could be a little more assertive, in fact this beer is pretty tame, but this would be a good beer to introduce someone new to the style.

Appearance: Translucent gold.
Smell: Fruity--almost melony
Taste: Wallop of fruit--too fruity, almost cloyingly fruity, for my preferences, with robust bitter aftertaste.
MF: smooth with a little pucker at the end.
Overall: I won't be intentionally buying it again--If you're a big IPA fan, you probably owe it to yourself to try it, but not enough undertones or body for me.
