Appearance: Pours a warm, clear honey color with moderate carbonation. About 1.5" of slightly offwhite head forms that has great retention and lacing. Very attractive IPA.
Smell: Just a hint of caramel malt peeks out initially, but that is quickly overshadowed by great hop aromas. Citrus, orange rind and pine all come to mind.
Taste: Some nice caramel malt backbone hits up front, but again gives way to great citrus hop flavors. Orange rind and a hint of bitter grapefruit make up the bulk of mid-palate, and the finish is bitter pine hops. Not overly bitter, but just about right.
Mouthfeel/Overall: Mouthfeel is light-medium with about the right amount of carbonation. Very dry finish. Nice. Overall, this one kind of surprised me. I've drank a fair amount of IPAs but for some reason always found a reason to skip over this one. Not anymore. I will definitely be buying this again in the future. Very nice all around and easy drinking IPA.

I have tried this one over the years several times, it is a very good beer. It is quite possibly one of my gateway IPA's, I was beginning to enjoy the style around the time I tried this one, but it was one of the first that really did it for me. Its piney, resinous, but now looking back it is not all that potent compared to some of the other IPA's I have consumed over the years. Its a very well balanced beer and one that someone should try if they are looking to try an introductory IPA. It definitely has that signature Colorado style and New Belgian yeast strain going on. Its a bit biscuity but hoppy enough to make a novice to IPA's enjoy this particular style. Then again it may come across as a bruiser, but if you find your self getting into IPA's or Pale Ales, you should try this one out. Its easy to find and relatively inexpensive for what you get.
