New Belgium must have switched up the recipe and name....cuz the Belgo I am trying is not part of the Lips Of Faith and it is only 7% ABV....according to the bottle. The color is a clear copper with thin white head that is lacing slightly. The nose has almost a cotton candy / gumball aroma. The taste has plenty of what most belgium ales has that unique sweet malt taste that is balanced by a bouya of Hops that makes the beer finish a bit bitter. The mouthfeel is ok....certainly alot going on to cover the higher ABV content. Not sure O could do more than one. Overall it is a failrly unique beer and worth a sample.

Hazy yellow and orange, 3/4" head, white, retention was good. Aroma hit the belgian yeast notes more than it did the hops.
Taste dropped way more bitterness than your average Belgian. The hops came out to play a lot more on the tongue than they did in the nose. Finishes clean, but before you get there, there is plenty of belgian spice rack and black pepper.
Good at what it is.

From notes, 4/29/11. Draft, City Beer Store. A very nice Belgian IPA. I rather like the Lips of Faith series. They mostly would make for excellent introductions to their various styles, since they’re friendly, enjoyable versions that still pack good flavor and some complexity. This isn’t quite competing with the best of the sub-style, but it’s nearly there and very good in its own right. Good citrus/grass/floral hop notes blend with Belgian yeastiness and a touch of earth. Taste is a bit sweet but finishes dry with a gentle bitter bite. A very pleasant beer and another win for New Belgium’s fancy line.
