A - Looks a little light for an IPA. The head isn't impressive but traces well, not uncommon for a bottle conditioned beer.
S - It smells like the perfect IPA, but...
T - Holy hell where did the hops go?! I thought this was an IPA. What happened here? This doesn't taste bad, just nothing like an IPA. Even the experimental type of IPA I might expect from the 'Lips of Faith'. It tastes most like a Tripel, if I had to even try an classify it. This would not be a bad thing if I was expected that from the get go.
M - Pretty creamy, none of the dryness I expect from an IPA. As I mentioned above, this beer seems woefully mislabeled. I think I could have enjoyed this a lot more if I knew what I was in for. I even poured it in a tulip glass, so it's not like I screwed the pooch with the wrong glass. So confused right now, none of this should even be in the 'mouthfeel' section, but that just seems in keeping with the confusion provided by this beer.
D - A really drinkable beer aside from the taste. I love the 'Lips of Faith' series but this is the low point.

From notes, 4/29/11. Draft, City Beer Store. A very nice Belgian IPA. I rather like the Lips of Faith series. They mostly would make for excellent introductions to their various styles, since they’re friendly, enjoyable versions that still pack good flavor and some complexity. This isn’t quite competing with the best of the sub-style, but it’s nearly there and very good in its own right. Good citrus/grass/floral hop notes blend with Belgian yeastiness and a touch of earth. Taste is a bit sweet but finishes dry with a gentle bitter bite. A very pleasant beer and another win for New Belgium’s fancy line.

A-pours a golden with a thick white head that dissipates somewhat quickly but leaves some great lacing the entire length of the glass.
S-floral, Belgian yeast, hoppy
T-tastes much like the nose with floral and citrus notes, Belgian yeast, a somewhat chalky aftertaste. It is light and refreshing but finishes very dry.
M-Somewhat thin with a good amount of carbonation
D-One could definitely drink a few of these in a session if they desired, but for me the dry finish cuts into the drinkability.
Overall, I'm not a huge fan of Belgian IPAs, however this one seemed middle of the road. I've had better offerings from New Belgium.
