Served in a small nonic, the pour was a deep, dark red color, clear with a tan head that had a tinge of red and leaves behind splotchy, sticky lace.
S - Sour raspberry -- strong enough to mostly mask the malt flavors.
T - Sweet, but not objectionable. As anticipated from the nose, it is quite heavy on raspberry flavor. Minimal sourness, and a light malt background.
M - Near medium body has good feel and medium carbonation. The 8.5% ABV is not obvious.
O: a very good dark fruit beer: easily recommended as a dessert beer.

was told by the bartender at falling rock that this was like a cherry based la folie, but he was absolutely wrong. its not lactic at all like the la folie, its only moderately sour, and most of that is in the nose from what must be a bit of brett. any sour flavor comes from sour cherry juice, and this felt like a glass of spoiled koolaid to me rather than a special sour beer. if its other fruit than cherries in here, its lost on me. it looked like cough medicine, smelled similar, and finished long and sweet. a glass was more than i cared to drink really. it had a syrupy texture and left the teeth coated with sugar. the cherry seemed artificial and in way way way too heavy of a dose. maybe some age would do this good, but i thought it was a pretty weak effort, especially since the lips of faith beers have all been so incredible lately. this is definitely one to skip unless you like cherry jolly ranchers in your beer.
