I've often thought summer seasonals were my least favorite seasonal beers out there. But over the years I've come to appreciate their subtle elegance. Often crisp and clean with fruity notes, they not only beat the heat but compliment lighter cuisine. Especially down here in south TX where it gets nasty hot even this early in the summer.
Poured into a barrel pint glass. Golden straw color with a nice healthy two-finger head on top. Unexpected lace. The nose consists of light fruit (maybe peach?) and earthier herbal notes. Heavier malt scent than many summer beers usually deliver. Taste follows suit, with a fruity, peach-pear flavor that goes down smooth and finishes clean. Very refreshing. Solid mouthfeel.
This is one of the better summer seasonal ales I've had in a long time. A very nice American Blonde ale. I will happily return to this a few times this year without hesitation.
