Poured from the bottle a hazy orange-gold with a very, very thin cap of off-white head around the edge of the glass. No lacing at all.

Aroma of pear juice, pineapple, sweet light malts and yeast.

The taste a combination of both sweet and sour with the asiatic pear juice, pineapple, sweet malts, raisin, candy sugar and some spicy herbs. The 10% abv is pretty well-hidden but still adds a hint of warmth to the palate.

Medium bodied and very dry with a weaker carbonation.

Not too bad. I liked it well enough.

A - Golden orange in color and ultra clear. Just a hint of carbonation but the head doesn't last very long, poor lacing as well.

S - The base of Fat Tire + 2x malt and hops isn't really noticeable in the aroma but I do get a lot of the Asian pear juice and saison yeast esters. Pleasant and floral with a syrupy sweetness at the end.

T - Sweet like a Belgian from the starts with a lacing of pear and lots of savory saison yeast flavors. The hops come through adding just a hint of bitterness and the malt is waaay in the background providing a roasted/toffee-like character. Aftertaste is slightly alcoholic with a cider-like finish.

M - Medium to heavy body, light syrup texture. Very good carbonation. After taste fades quickly and the flavors don't really fill the palate. Finishes neutral on the acidity scale.

O - Belgian-styled? Meh. Strong? Meh. It was a good idea but I think it might have sounded better on paper as the ingredients didn't blend of shine as much as I had hoped. Still a good beer though, just tough style to compete in.

A- looks like carbonated scotch, low head and it dissipated quickly
S- tad of pear, a bit of clove and nutmeg, sweet
T- Oooh God it's delicious, definitely can tell the higher alcohol content
M- thick, tingly and surprisingly carbonated compared to the head (looks flat but you can feel the carbonation)
O- This is great "sitting around drinking" beer. Good with a cigar or during a cookout.

22oz into a tulip. Pours a clear amber copper, yellowish minor head, minor lacing.

Sweet aroma, not particular strong but cloying in an impossible way. Overly ripe light skinned fruits.

Taste too is sweet but not of the pear juice which is completely undefined. The yeast unfortunately too is undefined, more of a sensation than a flavor. Medium bodied mouthfeel.

Perhaps my expectations were raised by the asian pear / saison yeast combo which sounds like a delight. Wholly underwhelming.

22 oz bottle split and poured into a Duvel tulip.
10% ABV, 3(?)-14-2011, "Ale brewed with Asian Pear juice".

A - A dense off-white head rests gently on top of Super Cru but leaves little in the way of lace. Beautiful caramel amber in color with great clarity!

S - The Asian pear juice comes through as exotic fruitiness with complimentary earthy hop tones. Mellow caramel maltiness provides a smooth and supple backbone. Nice yeasty finish.

T - Spicy esters open the brew with a bang while earthy hops provide a segway into the sweet biscuity, caramel-draped malt. Asian pear juice adds a considerable sweetness to the finish.

M - Smooth and well-carbonated, Super Cru is a medium-bodied brew with a lager-like refreshing quality to the finish.

O - I'm completely in the minority on this one, but I found Super Cru to be very solid across the board. Nothing like Fat Tire save for the bike depicted on the bottle, not that it was supposed to be. Complex and unique, I find it a good brew worth picking up.

A - pours a burnt glowing orange with a thin cream colored head.

S - such a strange smell. Heavily fruited with a layer of bready malt underneath.

T - not so good. Very gainy and pretty stale. Its got a bad after taste.

M - light to medium body with medium to heavy carbonation.

O - this might be the worst new Belgium beer I've had. I don't know what else to say.

A= golden, with modest head.

S= very nice and intriguing, I know there's the pear in there but the overall scent is much more complex than simply adding pear. A nice Cru adaptation.

T= slightly sweet for my preferences but a nice Cru, Belgian effects et al. Could use some more aging for complexity.

M= Belgian yeasts, light dryness yet the lingering honey-like sweetness.

O= a decent first-attempt offering. I'm hoping they can bring a little more refinement and focus to this on the next round.
