A- very dark beer very little light peaks through. Got about an
inch of tan head. That head fades pretty quick but leaves some nice lacing.
S- for the most part a pretty standard stout smell. Dark toasty notes maybe a hint of some sour in the background but very little really.
T- dark roast, hints of chocolate and coffee then some very subtle cherry notes in the background. To be honest after having la follie I was a little surprised at how unsour this beer was but it does work. Like a nice black forest cake.
M- I would say medium. Lighter then most most stouts but not super dry as some sours can be.
Overall I really enjoyed it. If your breaking into sours this might be a nice intro. Most sour purists would probably dismiss it as the sourness is very subtle but its a decent sipper for most that would enjoy a nice dark beer.

Bottle broached on 24th Feb 2014: shared at the second ever 'Shrewsbury Bottle Share', four of us tucked into this: cheers Mat for bringing it (he's a Clutch fan). I've never heard of Clutch of course, apart from the ones in the various cars I've owned.
Anyway the beauty poured a dark, dark brown, almost black in fact.
Dark fruits wrapped in chocolate with a sourness that belies the sweetness that is trying to burst through the brew. A dusting of caster sugar towards the end gives the beer a slightly less sour finish and adds a little lightness to the whole thing.
Different and pleasing, my third beer from New Belgium, they are doing OK in my eyes.
