New Belgium and Elysian are together again with Kick, a rich and tart pumpkin cranberry ale blended with wood-aged beer for a uniquely complex harvest season sour.

Bottle poured into a tulip glass, lightly chilled for 30 minutes from cellar temperature. Beer pours a clear orange color with half a finger of soapy white head. Head dissipates quickly, leaving some light lacing, to a thin collar of bubbles and a bit of a film. Plenty of tiny bubbles streaming up from the bottom of the glass.

Nose cranberry, light fruity ester sweetness. A bit of earthiness to it, maybe from the barrel aging. Not too interesting an aroma.

Taste is all cranberry, with some sweet fruit ester and a touch of biscuit malt. I get may be a little bit of squash/pumpkin flavor on the finish, but this taste like an cranberry ocean spray drink.

Light bodied and well carbonated, would be pretty refreshing on a hot day. Alcohol is well hidden on the beer, as the cranberry flavor masks some of the other components.

Orange hazy pour, thin head. Definitely imparts plenty of pumpkin, oak and cranberry in the aroma.

A little bit of caramel to offset the tartness. Mild oak and acidic notes. Tiny bit of cinnamon. Clean and dry.

I have no idea why they stopped making this. Glad I stocked up and bought a case when I did, although I think I only have about 2-3 bottles left. They really don't change much with time.

This is from tasting notes – had on tap at the Bryant Lake Bowl and from a 22 oz. bottle.
L: This pours cloudy orange amber under a 1” off-white persistent foam collar that grips the side of the glass.
S: Tart fruit aromas and fortunately no pumpkin spice.
T: Mostly tart fruit with citrus, pumpkin and cranberry. The bottled version is more attenuated and drier than the tap version. The sweetness in the tap version better balances the tartness. Light bitter accent on the finish.
F: Medium to medium light body, very soft carbonation, tart.
O: Refreshing. On tap the pumpkin and cranberry come out more. The drier bottled version pushes the flavors towards citrus.
