New Belgium Brewing Belgo Belgian India Pale Ale is sweet, yeasty, and more Belgian than IPA.
It poured light see-through straw with the slightest hint of orange. A slort bubbly off-white head did not last long and left only a bit of thin lace on about one-third of the glass. The smell was sweet and fruity and the flavor was dominated by banana, clove, and a hint of lemon peel, with a strong sweet yeasty metallic finish. There wasnly a moderate amount of bitterness and the feel was fleeting.
Belgo has a nice, if overly sweet flavor; however, the strong yeast presence and weak feel makes it more like a poor Belgian Ale than a middle-of-the-road IPA. Either way, there are much better options.
