Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.
A- Very dark with a hint or red when the light shines through it. I'm talking porter-like dark. Nice off-white head and moderate lacing.
S- Surprisingly hoppy for a beer this dark. Once you get past the grapefruit aroma of the hops it's earthy but I can't pick up on any individual aromas.
T- Not as hoppy as it smells. Caramel malt and chocolate with a hint of pretzel in the aftertaste.
M- Slightly fizzy and over-carbonated. I like dark beers to be chewy and thick, which this is not. Quite the conondrum...
O- I thoroughly enjoy New Belgium beer and this one is no exception. A very good winter beer that I will definately drink again.
