12 oz bottle pours a deep brown with some beautiful ruby highlights. Two finger beige head and ok retention.
Aroma is earthy piney and citrusy hops up front. Roasted chocolate malts in the background.
The piney and citrusy hops are most prevalent. Decent amount of chocolate roasted malts. Caramel, coffee, and nutty flavors also present but I like the it's a little more hop forward. Overall I wish it had a little more flavor though. It's still not not abad for a black ale.
Smooth, oily and medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Bittersweet roasty finish.
