Poured into a tulip
A- Hoppy nose. Citrus and some spice, noble hop, character. Also some caramel sweetness and light roast.
A- Pours nearly black with slight garnet at the edges. Nice off white head.
F- There's a firm bitterness along with some very mild roast character and a little caramel sweetness. Finishes nice and dry leaving me wanting more. There's really no astringency from the roast to make the beer harsh. A nice winter beer, kind of a warmer, but without any spice or hot alcohol flavors. Something I'd come back to.
M- Basically average. Average carbonation, average body. Nothing special, but nothing to get in the way either. This is a positive in my opinion.
O- A twist on the standard hoppy american ale with the light roast character adding some depth. Appropriate for a winter seasonal. This is a winner in terms of drinkability and I'll definitely look forward to it returning.
