Poured from a 650ml bottle into a pint glass. No dating info but was just released so it's fresh. It was a clear copper color with slight carb streams. It had a small fizzy head that quickly settled into a thin, incomplete collar. Minimal lacing and none sticking.
The aroma was good with the tropical fruit in the lead but quickly followed with more traditional saison elements. Pretty sweet smelling so was worried that it might taste too sweet but it didn't. It's sweet but there is just enough yeast and spice to keep it down. I do wish the mix was higher on the yeast/spice. As-is it's a fruity saison instead of a saison with fruit highlights. Mouthfeel is light with good carb levels and a fruity finish. Not really dry like a normal saision.
Overall, an interesting take on the style that does somewhat succeed. If you are wanting a pure saison you'll be disappointed but if you are open to a new take and don't mind sweeter beers then you are in for a treat. Avail here in TX. Seasonal I believe but maybe one-time release. Rotation - interesting enough that I'm going to get at least one or two more for now. [O;Y]

Had on tap at Max's (from notes)
A: Copper with light lacing.
S: Lots of yeast and farmhouse scents. Wet blanket.
T: A bit of funk with subtle citrus but mostly farmhouse. Subdued odd earthy flavors/aftertaste.
M: Nice and prickly. Coarse bubbly.
O: I think the earthiness came from the prickly pear.
