A: Nice, clear, amber color straddling the line between yellow and orange.
S: Toffee, lemony (but not particularly citrusy somehow-- Meyer lemons I would say), light breadyness and no real resinous hop smells that I am usually looking for from a supposedly hop-forward seasonal. It smells tasty none the less!
T: Diacetyl. It turns out the toffee in the nose was oily butterscotch in the mouth :( The hops are nice enough, although I think the aroma and flavor are a bit lackluster. They are there-- that is to say that I don't think it is under hopped-- but they just don't pop. Is the diacetyl a joke? I can't believe how blatant it is!
M: Totally average and acceptable light/ med bodied.
O: I don't know what to think. The diacetyl-butterscotch flavor is so apparent I feel like it must be some kind of mistake. It doesn't really make the beer any harder to drink though, and it actually kind of works out to be an interesting and almost pleasant character in the beer. But still, its distracting. Otherwise this is a pretty mediocre beer.
