Bomber bottled on 12/21/12.
Appearance: Pours a dark somewhat hazy amber with a thin beige head. Very little retention. No lacing.
Aroma: Interesting. Cinnamon, spice, caramel, chocolate malt. Even some dark fruit thrown in there. Unique.
Taste: Shew. Where to start? Lots of spice up front. Cinnamon is very prominent. Chocolate malts. Dry powdered cocoa. Spicy chili and chipotle flavor on the back end. I think the cinnamon is little too strong though. Lots of interesting flavors. Definitely different.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Plenty of spice adds a little kick of heat (could also be the alcohol). Dry, and leaves an almost chalky feeling in your mouth, which makes you think of the powdered cocoa. Spicy kick on the finish.
Interesting offer from New Belgium. I enjoyed it for it's uniqueness and complexity but I think the cinnamon is a little too strong and that makes a bomber hard to finish. It's definitely the dominate flavor. Perhaps best suited sharing this one.
