This is the most interesting of the Lips of Faith beers I have had.Poured a deep mahogany brown with a thin tannish colored head atop.Smells of chocolate,vanilla bean,and cinnamon,to me like Mexican hot chocolate,really cool.A bunch of stuff going on on the palate with chocolate being predominant as well vanilla,cinnamon and chili comes into play at the back end providing a slow burn.A little light in the mouth but thats the only small drawback to the beer,it's the most interesting take on a chile beer I have had.

22oz bottle. Pours dark reddiish brown with a smallish fizzy creamy off-white head that goes to a thin film and leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is awesome - sweet chocolate, cinnamon and chili spices (mole).
The flavor is sweet chocolate and cinnamon with a chili spice kick in the finish. There's a sublte vegetal note, that I don't recall in fresher samples. The mouthfeel is a bit thin and watery.
Overall, I really like this. It's a nice blend of chocolate, cinnamon and chili spice. It has good heat, but is not the standard chili beer.

22oz brown bomber.
LOOK: Deep mahogany hue, tight lacing
SMELL: Fresh chilies, raw cocoa, brown sugar, cinnamon, candied fruit
TASTE: Sweet maltiness within, creamy fullish body, full chili flavor, mild pepper heat, cinnamon, treacle, figgy, spicy throughout, reserved hoppiness, finishes spicy
This is a lovely brew, well rounded with a perfect balance of chili to cocoa to spice and still stays a beer.

The beer pours a brownish-red color with a tan head. The aroma is full of chocolate and cocoa, with some light chili notes and some roasted malt. The flavor is a little more complex. There is a ton of milk chocolate and roasted green pepper notes, as well as some cream and some roasted malt. There is also a little bit of heat from the peppers. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. A very nice chocolate-chili beer, a style that has become more popular and I am always excited to try.

Appearance - Dark rich mahogany brown with hues of red through the light. Accurate two-finger head with some nice lingering head retention.
Smell - Bitter chocolates with a sweet lingering end. I can feel a slight nice from the peppers along with the chocolate. Makes my nose slightly tingley.
Taste - So damn interesting! Almost feels like a brown ale on the beginning taste with a kick of spice from all the peppers. I'm not green when it comes to spicy food so it doesn't really linger bunch, but a few quick sips and it will remind you that they did put some nice peppers in this beer. Chocolate calms it down and sweetens up the beer immediatly.
Overall - Interesting beer! I would love to grab another few of these for Cinco de Mayo.

Dark brown body without a lot of visible carbonation activity. The beer eventually leaves spots of lace down the glass.
An incredibly unique aroma: decidedly Mexican coffee/chipotle peppers/rich, dark, chocolate mole, with enough roast to round out any sharp edges. Comes together very nicely.
The flavor is interesting, unusual, and delicious. The cinnamon and earthy spices are at the forefront, with bitter Mexican chocolate and coffee elements as well, with pepper heat lingering on the back of the throat after every swallow. Quite a unique drinking experience.
I suppose my only complaint would be with the mouthfeel, though I'd be nitpicking. Though there wasn't a lot of visible carbonation, it seemed, if anything, too carbonated in the mouth.
A unique, interesting, awesome chile beer. I'd recommend drinking this one fresh, as the chiles are vibrant and flavorful, though not overpowering or truly spicy in a classic sense.

A: poured into my taster, this brew pours a caramel red with an average head. Nothing to special.
S: The aroma of this brew is just a hint of chocolate. A little pepper is present in the noise. Natural chile.
A: the flavor has a very ballanced pepper tasted with chocolate to mellow the peppers. the peppers kick on the back of the pallet.
MF: the mouth feel is a little thin and the carbination is light, but still the body of this brew can hold up....barely.
Overall a unique beer, worth the try.

Cocoa Molé from New Belgium Brewing is my favorite beer. It was my first encounter with a Cocoa flavored beer, but it remains the best I've yet tried.
The beer doesn't look that great, and when I tell my friends how much I love it they doubt me when they first take a look at it.
But if you like the taste of Molé, this beer rocks it. I think that my loving Molé in Mexican food heavily influences why I love this beer.
If you really like Molé, you should really enjoy this beer.

Brown with a trace of red, dark and clear, with a moderate size but rather durable head.
The feel is a bit thin but otherwise good. I've upped my rating in recognition of the contrast between mouth burn (low) and GI warming (moderate-high) from the chili peppers.
The chilies are quite evident from start to finish and on into a lasting warming in my belly. A nice dose of cinnamon too, with everything in balance. That is, nothing so strong as to mask other ingredients, including a nice chocolate note. But be forewarned, this is one of the hottest (spicy) beers I've ever had. Much enjoyed and recommended. I hope to have this again, but would be hesitant to tackle a 22oz bomber by myself.

A: Dark, coppery brown; black tea.
S: Heavy cinnamon, faint chocolate.
T: An initial cinnamon kick with a wash of chocolate. The heat from the chilies builds gradually and then suddenly dissipates, leaving behind a chocolate stout aftertaste.
M: Medium bodied, characteristic of a brown ale.
O: The creativity works for this one. This is what I had expected from Dogfish Head's Theobroma. Where Dogfish Head approximated a recipe analyzed from clay pots, New Belgium instead delivered what may have been the common ideal of a beer brewed with cocoa, chillies, and other assorted spices. Nicely done; certainly worth revisiting.

A: Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a very thin off-white head that has little retention, forming a ring on the top. Streaky, thin lacing forms.
S: The spices dominate here, it reminds me of churros, the fried Mexican dessert. Cinnamon sugar, a little cocoa, and faint peppers.
T: Some chocolate and caramel upfront, mixed with more cinnamon sugar in the middle. The peppers come out on the finish and give off a little bit of heat as the flavor lingers.
M: Medium bodied, rather smooth for a chili beer. Slight heat on the finish that lingers in the back of the throat.
O: Probably the best chili beer I have had to date. The level of heat is perfect and I really like the cinnamon aspect, it isn't muddled like other beers that use it.
