a: chalice glass after the brewery tour, pinkish in color and topped with a white head that falls back to nothing in short order
s: nose of raspberries, pale malts, grass, and acidic citrus dominant, somewhat sweet, glimpses of the rose hips, a touch of yeast, okay
m: lively carbonation, medium-full, with a light body
t: blended bright, acidic raspberry flavors with crisp, clean malts, tart throughout with a touch of grassy hops to finish
o: the one was just alright imo - the raspberry dominance became tiresome after awhile and all other characteristics of the beer fall behind

A rare beer from a buddy whose wife works at New Belgium. Part of the Lips of Faith series, For My Valentine is a raspberry saison brewed with rose hips. The label reads: "Rose hips intertwine Liberty Hops off the vine. This saison is divine." No indication of alcohol content on the label..I'd estimate 6-7%.
Poured from a bomber into my Deschutes Brewery snifter. Color is a vibrant, deep pink with a finger of light pink head. Smell is sweet - strong rasberry, a fruity, floral aroma and some tart funkiness from the yeast. Taste is excellent - a really nice sweet burst of tart raspberry shifting into a light malt character. Finish is tart and floral and slightly bitter, with saison characteristics.
This is an excellent fruity saison. Reminds me of a Lindeman's Framboise without the thick, syrupy fruit taste. Highly recommended if you can find it, and if you like raspberries (which I do.)
