Never had any New Belgium or Alpine in my life, so I'm indebted to SatlyMalty for this great offering! Poured into a Saint Somewhere wine-style glass. No freshness date.
A- Pours a light, clear amber color with a 1/2 inch white head that bears good retention time before becooming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and soft specs of surface foam. Thick, solid ring of fluffy lacing.
S- Tropical fruit aromas and pine are emanating from the glass that's a foot away from me on the table. Dank notes of lemon, pineapple and grapefruit. The hops are definitely of the citrus variety.
T- Tangy, fresh hop bite out of the gate that just oozes grapefruit notes. Bitter in the start but smooths out in the finish and still lingers a bit. The hops are so powerful that not much malt is detected, but who cares? Alcohol is phenomenally well-hidden.
M- Moderately sharp and juicy. Medium carbonation and a lightish body.
O- There's a lot of hype surrounding this one but it's well-deserved. If you have a chance to try it, take it.
