Pours reddish gold with a two finger white head.
Hops explode out of the bottle. Aroma pervades the room. Hops hops hops. When I first opened the bottle I got a lot of fruit and that's still there when I really get into it. Melon is dominant, not cantaloupe but some other weird melon that's like it. I'm not smelling much pine, more like spicy forest floor.
What a cool beer. Starts gently but a wave of earthy hops starts in the mid palate and crests into a huge finish. That bitterness on the back end melds really well with the 9% abv. So at the front you get a nice little bit of malty sweetness but then the hops kick your butt. The aftertaste reminds me of what's left in your mouth after eating some really spicy mustard greens.
Yum yum yum. Not your typical pine tree/grapefruit bomb of an imperial ipa. Well balanced and fun to drink.
