A: pours a nice slightly chill hazed golden orange with a finger of white head that fades to a small pool in a duvel tulip
S: smells of peaches, lemon zest, spicy yeast and a little bit of malt aroma
T: peaches, slight spicy yeast character, barnyard funk, a bit of pale malt, some lemon zest. slightly biscuity at times. aftertaste is a bit more lemon peel and peach with some slight funk and a bit of sugary sweetness
M: medium in the mouth and fairly vigorous carbonation. a bit too thick but I think the grits and molasses might have upped the unfermentables leaving the gravity where it is
O: not bad but not great, interesting flavors but I'm having a hard time wrapping my palate around all of them to decide if this beer works or not. It's has some nice flavors and some interesting qualities but it doesn't quite fit the style. For what it is it's pretty solid. I got the last one they had on the shelf and I'm happy to have snagged it. Unfortunately it doesn't quite drink like a saison.
