22 ounce bottle into signature globe glass, bottled on 10/5/2012. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy tan head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, light char, toast, and roasted earthiness. Awesome aromas with big presence of coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, light char, toast, and roasted earthiness. Good amount of roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of coffee, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted malt, light char, toast, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt flavors; with a nice sweetness/bitter coffee balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, silky, and lightly chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent imperial coffee stout! All around great balance and complexity of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

This sucker poured a pitch black with a decent tan head that immediately exuded coffee, chocolate and roasted malt aromas. The taste was very rich and deep with dark chocolate and a roasted malt that had a slight hint of bitterness on the tail. The coffee flavors may have faded a bit over the months, but they were still present with a good dark roast kick that really balanced this deep dark and rich brew. The coffee aromas and flavors asserted themselves as it warmed and made for a complete coffee confection.

Served on tap at Barley's Taphouse in Asheville
A- pours pitch black with a small creamy light-tan head, reduces to a small layer leaving lace covering the rim
S- toasted cereal grain, fresh ground coffee, chocolate malt, slightly smoky
T- wow how is this not rated higher!? Intense fresh coffee notes with cereal grain sweetness, sweet chocolate malt mid palate, just enough hop kick at the end to compliment a semi dry finish
M- medium body, foamy mouthfeel with a smooth finish, abv hidden very well
O- this reminds me of a poor mans FBS, just a bit lighter mouthfeel and not as much chocolate. Still an amazing stout that is worthy of a higher rating IMO.
